Summary

Surrounded by painfully cheerful co-workers, Bari is deeply cynical and woefully underemployed working at a small-town fulfillment center. After an unexpected and unexplainable turn of events, Bari finds herself on an enlightening new path. When she meets Mike, a man who makes art out of garbage, it’s Bari’s turn to pull another out of the darkness. Be Here Now asks what we are willing to do for love and happiness and to create meaning in our lives.

BARI: (40-60) A depressed, nihilistic misanthrope who undergoes a radical transformation. PATTY COOPER: (Same age as Bari) Loud and controlling and good hearted. Has never left her hometown of East Cooperville. LUANNE COOPER: (20) Patty’s niece. Very simple and sweet. MIKE COOPER: (40-60) Patty’s cousin. Mike makes beautiful art out of garbage -- that’s who he is. He has a crow.
  • Setting East Cooperville, a small, fictional town in upstate NY, about a hundred miles from Manhattan
